Almost hidden between the Getreidegasse and the Griesgasse, you can find a Christmas market
of a special kind, brought into being for your pleasure in the lovingly decorated Sternarkaden.
Here children and adults experience an advent that could hardly be imagined as being any calmer,
more delightful to the senses and more exquisite than it is.
It is a place for beautiful things, for a festive mood, for old customs and for youthful cheerfulness.
"This must be the source of Christmas’s radiant glow ..."
It is not possible to drive directly all the way to the Sternadvent.
However, you do have several possibilities for getting comfortably into Salzburg’s Old Town
and for visiting the market after a short walk, with the marvellously beautiful
city of Salzburg as the backdrop.
No matter which side you approach Salzburg from, follow the signs for Zentrum ('Centre') and
look out for one of the parking garages directly in the centre:
> Mönchsberggarage when coming from the west
> Parkhaus Kajetanerplatz (multi-storey car-park) when coming from the south
> Mirabellgarage and Kapuzinerberggarage are ideally positioned if you are coming from
the north or the east
You can also park in the fee-charging parking-zone in the centre and in those districts of the city
close to the centre.
Travel by train – free of stress and in comfort. From Salzburg main train station many 'Obus'
bus lines take you right into Salzburg’s Old Town. Get off the bus at the Hanuschplatz bus stop
or at Rathaus; after a walk of around 50 to 100 metres you are at the Sternadvent.
Get out of the bus at the Hanuschplatz bus-stop in the centre and you are only a few metres
walk away from the Sternadvent. The following Obus lines and bus lines stop at Hanuschplatz:
1, 4, 7, 8, 10, A, 4A, 20, 21, 22, 27, and 28.
